SC300 amp upgrade Kicker vs Eclipse

I have been advised that the best first sound system upgrade to a '96 SC300 with premium sound system is a new amp.

The two amps (both 5 channel) recommended were:

Kicker 700.5 vs Eclipse 36501

Kicker is more expensive and was recommended as the better of the two due to more subwoofer power

Any opinions?
