Default gs400 navigation question

I have a 2000 gs400 with factory nav that runs on the hard disc drive. I wanted to know if there was a converter box in which i would be able to run dvd's/backup camera. I know there is not way to buy an aftermarket nav/stereo because the climate control is all linked into one system. I saw a converter system on lextasy but i think its only for the 01 and up models. If anyone has some insite on this issue it would be greatly appreciated.

thanks in advance.

Also my tape deck does not work which is what i use to run my Ipod. I also have faded and scratched buttons on my center console. I saw a used nav system on craigslist for 900. The nav and the climate controls still work but the appearance is just not that appealing. Should i go for it or just stick with what i have?

Do a search... I went through this ordeal. You can put an aftermarket system in but have to also install non-nav climate controls.

There is a box that will hook into the nav system display but since it's $300 I hesitated being a guinea pig not knowing what the display quality would be like.
