Default GS400 Electrical upgrade question

I'm planning out putting a system in my 98 GS4 and I wanted to check to see if I would have to upgrade my alternator or add a second battery. I'm looking at running a JL 1000/1 and JL 300/4. I will be upgrading my battery to the yellow top. I would rather not have to do any electrical upgrades other then the yellow top. Can I run 1300 watts RMS on the stock electrical?

Thanks

Use an aftermarket alternator. The stock alternator is good for about 1000 watts, rms. That's IF you're not running any other load. Conservatively speaking, 500 watts continuous should be about max with everything running (defogger, AC, etc).

I know of NO ONE that can tolerate 1000 watts or more continuous without some sort of hearing protection. At least not within the close / near field confines of the car. Hmmm - I take it back. There was a kid that was cranking his subs so hard, at full blast continous (maybe 600 watts) and came back into the shop with eyes bloodshot, nose bleeding and both eardrums bleeding - blood was running out of both ear canals. Stupid kid.

The yellow top will just give you more run time, alternator off and car off. Plus you can drain the yellow tops down to almost nothing and have them come back with little ill effects.
