It works well. I am a parrot dealer and the only complaints I get is backround noise or a tin can sound. This little trick has solved all those problems.

shawndh, thanks for posting the photos and the info about the signal booster; your install looks great!

It looks like we won't be going with Bluetooth kits after all - at least for now.

I found out only today that our Nokia 6340i phones we bought 4 - 5 years ago support both GSM bands (850 & 1900 MHz) used by AT&T in the U.S. I thought our phones supported only one GSM band but that was the older 6340. We may lose some coverage when analog is withdrawn but we probably won't be any worse off than other AT&T customers.

So...we are bidding on new 6340i phones on eBay to replace our trashed ones and will stay with our old Nokia CARK-91 phone kits for a few more years. I didn't realize until I did some reading today that we only have to pop our SIM cards into the new 6340i phones. I had thought that AT&T had to do at least something to activate them.

Worst case, we may have to buy GSM antennas for the car kits. I'm going to try to find out if the factory installed phone antenna imprinted on the rear window of my 00 LS400 will work with GSM-only but I doubt if anyone at Lexus will know.

We love these old car kits - sure glad we don't have to "modernize".

If it works stick with it. The old school kits were rock solid. I too miss being able to keep my phone charged in the car and the extra reception. But if you ever have to switch to BT, at least you know your options. Thanx for the pic.
