hello all.

can Japanese headunits work in US, with functioning radio including AM and FM? Are the antennas different or something?

Short answer, if the connections are the same, it should. There is an international committee that controls the range of frequencies that make up the AM/FM bands. Not sure of the exact range for Japan, it may be shifted a little higher or lower on the scale, but most of the bands towards the center should be included.

Frequencies and antennas are the same. The thing is the steps in between each frequency. I do believe in Japan the steps are "finer", every 0.1 mhz versus 0.2 over here. At least that's how it was on the McIntosh MX406 that I had.

Example... 94.7, 94.9 for ours during selection. For theirs it's probably 94.7, 94.8, 94.9.
