Default GS430 Front Center Speaker Replacment and Amp Question

Hey Everybody,

Have a couple of questions for you all:
  • What size if the front center speaker in the '02 GS430 ML System and is there an aftermarket replacement out there?
  • What is the best replacement aftermarket speaker out there?

Lastly, if I were to upgrade all the speakers in my GS430, Focal Polyglass 165 V2S or MB Quart Premium PVF-216 seem to be the weapon of choice for components, what kind of amp would it take to power ALL of the speakers, 4 ch...5ch etc., EXCLUDING the sub. I've got that covered already. Thanks!!!!

"best" all depends on what you are looking for.

I would take a listen to Dynaudio components. Had Quart (lots of them) and dumped all of them for the Dyns. The Dyns are that good.

As for the speaker sizes..don't know since I haven't taken one apart!

Clarity and a nice punch for mid's, I guess that would depend on the amp as far as mid's?

Clarity for mids as well as accuracy - you can't go wrong with Dyns.

MBQs sound more "shallow", plus their hard dome tweeter doesn't really help any. I know a few guys that have switched from MBQ to Dyns and are much happier for it.

If I remember correctly, you should have 6.5 inch speakers up front in the doors, 1 inch hard domes for the tweets and a 2.5 inch midrange for the center speaker. 10 inch for the sub.
