Default 92 SC400 Stereo/Audio Problem

I recently purchased a 92 SC400, but I am not getting any sound. The radio turns on but I don't get any sound from the speakers. This goes for the tape player and the cd player, btw I have a Nakamichi premium sound system. I took
it to a local car audio shop and the guy guessed it's probably a bad amp. If anyone know what might be the cause of this problem please help me out

Given that information I would be looking at the AMP too. Has your car been exposed to allot of rain recently by any chance?

I don't think so... I live in So-cal, rain is rare here and since the time i took ownership, it has yet to rain.

I'm inclined to think amp as well. I've gone through 3 of them on my 92. They are notorious for blowing after time.

Time to switch to an aftermarket unit like I'm doing.

Default Test the Speakers

ninoalfano, Test with working speakers. I thought my amp was fried, but the speakers were blown. I bought cheap 4 ohms speakers at wal-mart hooked them up and got sound. I returned them for a refund and bought quality speakers. Just take off the right rear corner panel in the trunk, doing this will allow you to see the amp (any rust visable on the amp, probably fried) and allows take down of the back panel that covers the rear speakers/gas tank.

This was the OEM blown rear speaker taken out of my 95.

i had the same problem and it turns out its the amp.
this problem occurrs because the drane from the sun roof has a hose and leads to the trunk right on top of or next to the amp. when this occurs water gets to the amp and ruins it. you will def. need a new amp.

get it checked out to see if the amp has water damage.
