Default Treo 700 stopped working with Bluetooth

10 days after taking delivery of our new RX350, our Treo 700 cannnot connect to the Bluetooth system. Worked fine for the first 10 days. A call to Lexus confirms they are having problems in all their cars/SUVs with Treos. Of course they say the problem is Palms. My wife is beside herself.

Does anyone know of way to fix the problem (or even a workaround). My wife uses the car and it is so much safe for her to be conducting calls over bluetooth.

Can anyone help?

Thanks,
Larry

Larry,

The Treo models with the Palm OS do have connectivity issues with Lexus models, the Microsoft OS phones do not. From my experience, there are only a couple things you can do. First, delete the phone registration in the car and repair the phone. When the phone says it is paired, place an outgoing call from the phone immediately, this sometimes will complete the pairing process.
Secondly, try upgrading the firmware on the phone on the Palm One website. Often times, connectivity problems can be solved with a simple firmware update. Hope this helps.

I was just going to say this. I believe Palm released an upgraded firmware that came out on the 680P, which was released a while after the 700p. As far as I rememer (I used to work there).. they greatly improved the BT stack on the 680, and the 700P uses the same chip.. so the firmware should contain this new upgrade.

Default Temporary fix for my 700P BT with 04 LS430

My connectivity is unpredictable as well. Actually after reading about all the problems my expectation was that my 700p would work at all when I bought my LS recently. After a few exits from the car, call orgination from the Nav will work, but incoming calls will only mute the audio but not enable the hands free function. So I have to use my handset. This also occurs when I initiate a call from my handset.

The fix I use is reset my phone by putting the stylus in the hole next to the battery and then turning off my car and then turning it back on. Yes it is a hassle, but when I know I really need to use the hands free I check it before I leave the garage and then reset the phone if required.

I am too attached to both the car and the phone to give either one up, so hopefully a better solution comes along.

I had endless trouble with a Treo 650 after buying my 2007 RX350. I replaced it with a 680, and it works a lot better - but I still occasionally have to delete the phone from the Lexus and re-pair.
