drilling holes to vent the cd changer????
i finally got my cd changerworking last night. i assume it might be the heat in the trunk b/c it didnt work when i tried it during the hot days here in miami.
soi thought, what if it drill some holes in several areas to allow the unit to breath and let the hot air inside it escape.
could this possiblly help cool it down? or maybe drill the holes at the top and open a square at the lower end and attach a small cpu type fan to blow air in and let it flow thru the holes at the top?

run a fan in it if you're going that far-- or a pair of fans -- they make pretty small ones for stuff like this that will be pretty quiet and cool it well--
Just 12v is fine-- and you can even set it up to trigger from the remote lead -- where it would trip a relay and send power to the fans only when the system is on-- pretty easy to wire, maybe not so easy to find space in the changer and accomplish without destroying something critical for it's operation--
Disassembling something like this is a serious undertaking if you go very deep into it-- I guess you'd just be pulling covers off though-- so it may not be that bad--

You can also mount a larger fan somewhere in the trunk - you can run it off of the 12V supply, or the amp remote line if you have a relay feeding it. Anything that can move air in the trunk will help to cool. Radio Shack or CompUSA for fans.
