Rain or cold causing audio amp to fail?
I have an electrical problem on my 2002 IS 300 that seems to occur when the roads are wet, or when I run the car through the carwash, or when it gets very cold. There is no sound coming out of the speakers, and yet the radio and CD player display works just fine, so I suspect that the amplifier is getting wet or shorting out somehow. Also, two warning lights come on, one that says add oil, and one that says a tail light is burnt out, and yet the oil and bulbs are fine. After a night warming up in the garage, or if daytime temperatures warm up, everything is back to normal. A few days later, cold or rain causes it to happen again. This has happened 4 or 5 times in the past 2 months. I tried to find the amp in the passenger rear quarter panel, but no luck. Any ideas on what the problem is? Where is the amp located on a 2002 IS 300?
