My 1998 SC300 rear CD changer is not playing cds. I don't need high tech stuff, I just want to play CDs in my car.

I want to retain the stock head unit.

So what do I do? Do I buy an aftermarket CD changer? Please help. What will work with my SC?

I don't need a 12 disk changer. I just need to play some CDs Help please.

Don't want to go to Best Buy and get raped, without info.

 

i have been installing the 95 96 es300 6 disc changer for many years and have had no complaints of all the problems the 12 disc has. it is made by pioneer and same mexhanisnm is still used in the bmw 740i though 2004 so it is a time rtested mechanism. it plugs right in . it has to be mounted facing the trunk compartment since it has a drop down door. i remove the little ears on the 12 disc amp bracket and it installs right on top of the amp.

 

So i need to find the ES300 CD changer, and it will be plug and play on my SC,fromwhat I understand your post?

Yes, it is plug and play. I got a 96 es300 6 disc cd changer in mine and have had no problems with it. No skipping or long waits between songs.
