Question Nakamichi headunit is Possesed!

I just purchased a gs400 2 weeks ago. Everything worked at first and now my cd player works first thing in the morning and after 30 minutes or less the display freezes and it cuts off. I had the cd changer(pioneer) checked and it worked fine. I had the radio checked and it worked fine. I even had them removed from the car and just connected on the seat and it played fine. Once re-inserted into the car after about 10 minutes and same symptoms. I really enjoy the sound and performance when it works but I cannot continue like this! I believe it has a correlation between the heat and the radio or wiring but I just cannot pinpoint the problem. Has anyone gone through this before? I have noticed that when it is cold it actually functions better which is why I believe it has something to do with the heat of the car.

Sounds like the unit is not getting any cooling and overheating. That will cause systems to crash. Did you cover any vents on the unit while installing it?

the nakamichi system has a dac box. (dac = digital analog converter). that usually is the problem in these kind of problems. folllow the wire from the blue connector on the back of the changer and it will lead you to the dac box behind the glove box. they are called amplifiers in the salvage yard computer parts programs but they are not amplifiers.they go for around 100.00 used(900.00 list)

Would you have a part number or something. I spoke with my local parts department at the Lexus dealer and the employee was unaware of such a part. DAC?

Thanks for all the help and information- however the resolution to my problem was my key. I had a replacement key cut and it solved the (cd changer??) issue. Very wierd but it is true. Thanks CL!
