Default Help finding speaker wires??

Guys,

I am helping my friend install a HU in his boat. He has a harness on there that is cut and does not connect into the harness from the back of the HU. I know how to find the power, accessory and ground, but I am confused by the speaker wires.

From what I read, I need a AA battery. Now which wires do I use to check the speakers. I was reading on 12v about it http://www.the12volt.com/installbay/...TID=74637&PN=1 (step 6) and I was getting confused with the wiring. I don't know which wire I should use to which side of the battery.

Can anyone shed some light on it for me??

Thanks,
Jonny

look for speaker wires and they should hopefully at least be labelled with a plus or minus sign on them. just connect them to whatever battery you have to figure out the polarity - like if the speaker gets sucked in or pushed out and go from there.

I'd imagine you'd have to run a solid wire from the battery. Most boats don't use much metal except for maybe some small areas.

better yet. use a real multimeter that measures OHMs.

And even better, pull the speakers out of the panels and look at them. If they don't have markings for pos and neg, they should be replaced anyway.
