Carputer in an older car

Carputer in an older car

I'm planning to install a carputer in my car but somebody told me that the car needs to have obd2 system to install a carputer in it.Is this true?

no, you need obdII if you want to be able to view engine diagnostics on the carputer...

you can install it and use it for music/videos/gps, etc...
