Default OPTIMA - What the hey?

What IS going on with Optima lately????????
Their warranty has now been cut back to only 12 months. I keep hearing complaints that these things don't last. Optima used to spec the # of cycles that a Yellow Top could take at around 350. Now that spec is nowhere to be found on their website. What game are they playing here? Seems like they're trying to pull the wool... I have a problem with them advertising that their battery is for deep cycling, but making no commitment as far as how many times, yanking down the # of warranty months, etc. All while the number of complaints seems to be rising.

I just deep-cycled mine this week. Car is dead in my garage due to lack of use. Will be attempting first recharge tonight. If this thing doesn't come back I'm going to be supremely pissed.

hum, my yellow top has been in my car for years, I never contacted optima for any warranty work.
I guess there's probably too many people sending in their batteries for unnecessary repair work?

Sorry to hear about your battery problems, ask your dealer if they can arrange anything.

No battery problems for me YET - I let it die this time. I was just asking about what's going on with this company. They went from a very reputable manufacturer with a long warranty and 350 deep cycles and everyone recommending them, to almost no warranty, no quote on deep cycles, and many many complaints. Don't know what's going on, I just don't quite understand.

I'm not too fond of my Optima Yellow. It died on me while driving for no apparent reason.

yeah optimas aren't what they crack up to be, i ALWAYS hated my redtop optima, and i refuse to pay the extra money for the yellowtop, so went with the odyssey/stinger battery, much mroe affordable and better customer service.

Did the company go through any buyouts or change of hands? GM did the same thing...dropped warranties, poor customer service, etc. Used to be a longer warranty on some of the parts, then they went to pretty much a 3/36000 thing.

I do believe Interstate batteries has a battery similar to the Optima. Just reverse engineered while avoiding any patent infringements.
