Sure! As long as your new sub is a free-air model and you'll also need to confirm the mounting depth since the gas tank on our SC's is right beind the back seat!
You may also need to build a baffle to raise the new sub up a bit to clear the fuel sending unit at the top of the tank.
Also, this is the easy one, ensure the replacement speaker is the same size as the old one.
If you were plannign to use a speaker designed for an enclosure, put your enclosure in the trunk and remove the stock sub completely (leaving the hole), to allow for the bass to port into the cabin of the car.

If your going to wire up a after market amp and all that good stuff why don’t u just get a nice 10" after market woofer in a nice compact box throw it in the corner of ur trunk and just remove the stock woofer.
