Pics of my upgraded system
Head unit:
Pioneer DEX-P99
12 disc CD changer:
Pioneer CDX-P1270
Amps:
JBL P80.4 + JBL P180.2 (on a 0.5 F capacitor)
Speakers:
Amega Q-Comp 5.25" + 1" silk tweeters
Sub:
DLS UL-12
At about $900 I would say the DEX-P99 offers very good value for money. Excellent DSP with 13 band EQ. I don't think this unit is available in the US though. It is being replaced in Europe with the DEX-P9 + DEQ-P9 combo (at about $2100).
The DEX-P99 is very common in (EQ) competition cars here in Sweden in the limited cash categories.
Some will say that the sub is underpowered with a 360 W amp but it delivers a clear and powerful base at the levels I listen at. I can't believe the amount of power some of you people need to throw at your subs.
There is more space behind the glass than these pics give the impression of. At least 1/2 feet.
After the weekend I will post pics of the head unit install.

Over - Nah, I'd say that 360 watts into a single 12" woofer is an excellent match, although I'm not familar with the DLS sub. FWIW - as long as U don't go overboard with matching the power to the amp, more power will keep things from distorting & give ya lots of dynamic headroom. I've got 650+/each going into a sub designed for a max of 600 & no problems in over a year. Not always a "need" basis - just covering the bases.
