Crummy FM reception

Hi all... love this forum!
I have a new 2001 RX300 with the "premium" sound system... tape and CDs sound great, but...
I've been getting really bad FM reception 15-20 mi. outside of NYC. (motorboating, multipath, etc.) This is far worse than with the mediocre OEM radio/cassette decks on my '96 grand cherokee, and '91 subaru.
Had dealer check in 1000 mi. check up. Pronounced it fine, but of course, they just tried it in the parking lot, and did nothing.
Some have suggested that it may be a problem with the dual antennas... any suggestions?
