Hi Guys

My Pioneers stacker in my 91 LS is making a clicking/slipping sound when it loads the cartridge contents. Once it goes through/tries to/ the loading procedure, Err comes up on the head unit.

Any advice?

The clicking/slipping sound is normal. If you didn't hear anything at all, that could be signs of a bad spindle motor. You're hearing the unit trying read a disk from the cartridge. When is the last time you had the unit cleaned at an authorized Pioneer repair center? I think most dealers will just charge you for replacement...which is expensive. Pioneer still has the service manual for the unit...about $45 if I remember correctly.

I had the same problem on my 1990. I pulled the unit and had it cleaned at a Pioneer facility...works as designed now.

Also, make sure your CD's aren't right side up in the cartridge (they're supposed to "upside down") or else you'll get an ERR as well.

Thanks for the advice. I have the same clicking/err problem in my 1990 LS400. Are there any tricks involved in pulling the unit, other than removing the obvious screws?
