my fault, i was trying to find out if there was a difference between the two dash kits. the one i got is the one that carson toyota sells (it was $45, i think straight from japan or something). i jumped the gun and ordered that the same day as but just before your post with the model number of the one that you have. we'll see what happens when the kit comes in and how it fits in. right now with my xm setup (which is hardwired to the back of the avn) consists of a bunch of wires that come out, and then i velcro the radio to the passenger dash. eventually i want it to be hidden. but to get it to look clean, i might have to drill a hole in the dash kit so the wires for the xm can pass through and still placed on the dash, until i get a chance to take out the ashtray. what do you think?

thanks for your other response as well, about the xm setup. appreciate the help guys...

Thanks for the find. It is exactly what I needed and I didn't even have to look for it!

im not much of a technical expert at all (i barely know my way around), but i was watching the whole install. i remember the xm radio was connected to my AVN2454, so that it would play the XM radio when i go into Source>VTR mode. it's not FM modulated currently.

i'm thinking i want to change that, i want to get the rear view camera and if i did that, *i think* i will be using the VTR mode strictly for rear view cam and should FM modulate the XM radio into one of the stations. also, *i think* if i FM modulate it in, it might get rid of the whizzing noise that gets louder as i accelerate the gas (this happens in VTR mode regardless of whether the XM unit is powered on or not). i dont know much so i'd have to find out more, could you confirm any of this?

the antenna for the xm and all that is tucked behind my center console (behind the AVN unit) near the ac vents. i can't see it unless i take apart the center console. im starting to think maybe i should have got all this stuff installed differently...

I think it would be better to leave the XM in the "AUX" mode. The AVN has a separate input for a dedicated rear-view camera. Their camera, however, is not as small as some others out there. If you have a place you'd be happy with, then use their camera and the XM can stay where it is. If you'd like another camera, it is more $ but you can do what DaveGS4 did. He got the Eclipse camera to get their proprietary plug and replaced the camera with one that will fit in the trunk keyhole.

thank links for a single din unit, but it does look like they offer the double din on that same page for around $30. i still think you cant match the fitment and quality on the one i listed tho.

I agree, the first link looks better but I found it so I figured I would post it.

Dave, I cannot get over this setup. It is awesome! I am going to hold off buying anything for a while and just listen to my Sirius radio w/o a cd player in the car and save some cash. I just want to make sure that whatever I buy, it is exactly what I want.

alright buddy. the basement hunting has paid off. your part number for the exact dash kit installed in my car is: BKLXSK1315. this part is made by BEST KITS. you can order this kit HERE and its only $30. good luck!]
Hmm, you said that it can be ordered from that site yet I don't see anywhere where you can put the item in a cart and checkout. Do I have contact them directly?

I made an order for mine from here on Friday http://www.beachaudio.com/product_in...ducts_id=55684. Strangely I haven't received an order confirmation or anything yet. I'll call them later tomorrow if I still don't receive anything. Based on the part number, it looks like they're the same kit.

Is the dash kit from Carson the correct kit to use with the AVIC-D1?

This may be a dumb question but I have to ask. What make Carson Toyota Double Din Kit better than the other double din kits out there? Im in the market for a kit but would like to know the difference before I purchase one.
