you've all been waiting for the 5435? it's been out for a while now... had mines installed close to over a month ago.

 

Although there were some confusion on the model number, the thread (and the wait) is for the 5495.

 

i've had mine on order since january 17th, i used their 5435 as a mock up for the install of my 5495 and it's been killing me waiting. the 5435 is a very nice unit indeed but i don't care to have sirus radio, the extra features of the 5495 are so nice. i was told end of june from eclipse is when they will be shipped. i could only hope 6/15 would be the date but i was told to be lucky if it was the very end of june and were waiting on one for a magazine shoot. not fun at all, i'm debating to throw the 5435 back in and call it a day. i sure hope it's worth the wait.

 

sorry, i'm a little of a car newb and i don't want to jack the thread but why does it seem to me that eclipse is "the" brand for HU's. it certainly has the extra sticker price. i think pioneer does a better job in its interface than most alpine units i see. i like the oel over the dot matrix, but eclipses look better than the alpines. of course i know it's not about looks. does the unit simply have more equalizer options, does it produce better sound, support aftermarket parts better?
btw, their touch screen navigatrion units look absolutely sick from the sites i've seen. i'd love to have that in my car.

 

honestly it's all preference, i'm a big pioneer fan. i've had pioneer and mostly premier in all of my cars since i can remember. after finally getting into some serious stereo equipment i decided to look into other options and couldn't be happier with the eclipse. for starters yes the internals are where it's at. visually i've always liked pioneer above all but eclipse has some great features with and even greater warranty.

again with everything though it's all personal preference.

 

? for anyone using a 5495 or 5435, if I recall correctly these unit's do not have any onboard crossovers. Can anyone confirm this?

 

I just wanted to let everyone know that the units are shipped. If you had one on order they should be coming to the resalers.

God this has been a long wait, but it will definitely be worth it with all the new features of the unit!

 

The lock out can be disabled by grounding 1 wire
I can find out which one it is if it's of interest

I just got off the phone with my buddy who works at an audio shop...
this new eclipse is gonna be pretty sweet

40gig, 10gig ->for only navigation which leaves 30gigs for music

no gyro-sensor(something that eclipse did for their NAV system)


To disable DVD lock out:
ground a red w/ black stripe (same on ALL eclipse DVD/NAV units)

how did you get the custom face and what were your costs if you don't mind

 

My installer made the custome face for me.
Install with out the Eclipse wires was $325 + wires $175 but I know the guy
so he installed it for $250 for me.
