Question 2000 GS Nav. install

Well, I received the hard drive upgrade today. I will install the thing on the weekend, but, inside the box there is a note indicating that the old hard drive must be returned to Sewell on 30 days. Does anybody knows if this has to be done, or what happens if not ? I will apreciate answers on this, before calling Sewell . Thanks.... Josey

Josey, Been waiting for you to let us know how the install goes. I don't even know where the nav computer is. As far as returning the old unit I would just e-mail Darrel. Hurry and post your results, I will order mine then.

Exclamation

Hey, Duece : I am planning to install this thing tomorrow morning. Don`t worry, I will tell you how later on tomorrow. I e-mailed Darrel about the returning policy, but it will be a good idea if you do it too, so he`ll know that there are more people with this concern too, so do it , if you don`t mind. I guess he will be replying next week, so in the mean time I am proceding to install the dawn thing . regards.... Josey

Josey, I just sent Darrel a e-mail asking about returning the old hard drive. I will let you know. Take some pictures. I heard the install is pretty easy.

Talking nav. upgrade install

O.K. I just installed the upgrade hard drive; it is very easy. The car must be off. First, unscrew the 4 small screws that hold the nav box to the car. then, lift the box a little,( DO NOT DISCONNECT IT) , so that access can be gain to the small plastic cover at front of the box, which gives acces to the hard drive. That plastic cover is hold by 2 small screws; unscrew those 2, being careful (use a small Phillips screwdriver, magnetized) that the screws don`t fall into the box. Then, you`ll see the hard drive. Press down a little on the cooper tab that holds the hard drive, then slice it out pulling on the handle. Slice the new one in , making sure it is in the right position, until it cliks on the cooper tab below, rotate the small handle down, put the plastic cover back, screw the 2 small screws, then the 4 screws to hold the box to the chassis, and that`s it. Then, acc ignition on and calibrate the position, and you are done. The instructions tells exactly how to do it all. It took me 20 minutes, being very careful and slow so as to not make mistakes . Duece, for you, the Nav. box is in the trunk, on the right side, below the carpet. Acces is very easy , anybody can do it. Have fun..... Josey

Red face

Yes, absolutely; there is a lot more info on the new one, that is why I ordered . There are 4 1/2 years difference between the original and this one(sept. 03) so, it is fairly apt to a present standards of mapping. It is a huge improvement over the original. Josey
