Default Hack the NAV for access during motion?

I'm wondering if it's possible to disable the really stupid lock that doesn't let you use most of the NAV functions while in motion.

There were some guys on here that wired up a switch to the speed sensor input on the navigation so they can by-pass it.

Yeah do you know who did it? Or possibily a link or something. I'm not really sure what to search for.

Coming from German systems, at least we got to use our POS navigation in motion. Same with our five year old Honda!

This gets annoying when companies make choices for you.

One site I just found. I think that might work as well.

I have played with this, with limited success. The problem is (at least with the LS430 nav units), even if you interrupt the speed sensor input to the nav unit, after a few seconds the system will still realize that you are in motion by the changing gps position, and it will still lock you out.

Interrupting both the SPD sensor and the GPS antenna signal would probably work fine but it's an additional complication.

Jim.....

I have a Speed Sensor toggle switch that works with limited success. I can't do a full blown address entry, but I can select a previous destination. Better than nothing.....
