Anyone have one from them? Looking for either RMR-C430 or RMR-C450

Default Do your homework...

Rumor has it (supported by tests published in most of the mags) that these detectors are usually sub-par in performance compared to Bel, Escort and Valentine and that their jammer "protection" is akin to snake oil.

Radartest.com has reviews, etc. At a minimum, take a look there before buying.

Good luck,
Eric

I'd recommend looking at magazine tests for results. Radartest is fairly widely known to be a biased source (or rather, anti-Valentine). Here's one from Motor Trend http://www.motortrend.com/features/c...ar/index7.html

Do some searching for 'radar' 'escort' 'valentine' etc on ClubLexus and you'll find lots of threads about radar detectors. I'll link some for you shortly

the debate could go on forever about V1 v. Passport 8500.....i've had both, but right now i only have the valentine.....(i'm very carefully avoiding the possibility that this will start into another debate on this)

as far as RMR is concerned, i've never heard anything other than those things being very expensive plastic boxes with led lights on them.....they're worthless

advice that i haven't specifically heard on CL (but apologies to those who may have posted this same stuff):
1. my best suggestion for you is that if it comes down to a choice between passport 8500 and the V1, then go ahead and buy both, then test them out by switching one on one day, the next on the next day, and alternate for a week until you decide (don't use both at same exact time b/c i've heard that they can interfere with each other, but not too sure on this). they're both GREAT detectors.....

2. when you're in the range of V1 and 8500 detectors, it almost is a matter of personal preference and what's important to you to have in a detector.

these two detectors are both very good, but they're both so different that you really should try each one out.

i'll add on one more link for your information:

Good Luck,
