Spark from negative battery cable
Yesterday, I had to disconnect my Sony amp. I think I connected everything back correctly. Well, everything was fine yesterday, last night and today....until about 9:00pm. I went to start my car (99 GS 300) and it wouldn't start. The battery was dead. But when I went to jump the car and tried to start the car, a spark came from the negative battery post. At that point I figured I must have hooked up the amp incorrectly. So I took the 50 amp fuse (for the amp hooked to the positive battery post) out and jumped the car. After a few tries and adding some water to the battery it finally started. Of course I will be getting a new battery tomorow but I want to ask, what could have caused the negative battery post to spark? The amp had to be hooked up correctly, it worked all day. I did notice though that the bass was hitting much harder today.

With the battery totally dead it would not be unusual for you to get a spark from the neg. battery
post. Their are draws on the battery from the car all the time, so when you hooked up the jumpers
and the car battery was dead, you can easily get a spark from the neg terminal. If you had the
negative hooked up first, you would have gotten a spark from the positive terminal.
