Default Audio Question (sc400) NEED HELP!!

My audio has been acting up. I noticed the back left speaker no longer worked. I went to the store and baught a pair of Eclipse brand 4 inch speakers. I installed them and turned up the system to almost half the capable volume with maximum bass. There was a lot of popping sounds going, but at about 1/4 volume it sounded alright. I guess my question is what is the problem? Is it a problem with the bass? Where can I get a new bass that fits right in? If I cant play my music at full bass anymore is there a way that an aftermarket bass the same size, gives out more of a kick?

how many watts were the eclipse speakers rated? the original were 20 watt 40 max. high watt speakers like 150 watt and above are harder to push for the factory amp and not recommended .
