I would love to know this too, as I believe it should be possible. I see an area on the truck where it was already in the work in 2001. Anyone?

It can be done but it is not trivial. The Nav system uses an RGB display, similar to a computer monitor. It is not compatible with the standard composite video put out by small cameras.

To make this work you need first to run the camera's output through a converter to get an RGB signal, then you need a relay to switch the nav display from the nav unit to the converter output.

This thread: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...threadid=98281 shows how I attached an xbox to my nav display, same basic principles for a camera except you would activate the relay from the backup lamp signal rather than from a switch. You also need a camera that can be switched to a mirror-image display mode. Also note that this will not work if you have the Lexus Park-Assist system since the Park-Assist over-rides the nav display. Of course you could turn the park assist off when you needed to see the camera view.

That's great information, I really appreciate it. I'm going to look it over. If I do it, I may buy the camera itself from Lexus and wire up the rest. If I go through with it, I'll document and photograph it as well. On one note, one company I contacted said they have a modification that they can do directly to the Nav Unit, but they want $800.00. It's a bucket of money, so I really need to think about it. Thanks for the input!
