Default HELP cd changer not workin!!

Its been about 2 weeks now...
My radio is workin fine... but the cd player has some problem with it. When i turn the volume to maximum on the cd player then i can hear the cd very faintly. I took it to various mechanics and they all said they would have to send it in to some repair facility. They say it will take around 3 weeks to come back. When i asked how much the repairs would be.. they said anywhere from 200- $400!! YIKES!!
Has anyone had this problem before? Could it be something as simple as a loose wire or could it be something more complicated that needs the whole cd changer to be replaced? I would let the mechanics send the unit in but they say i HAVE to get work done from them if they send it in and they claim theres no way they can find out whats wrong unless i send it in. I dont want to be stuck into gettin work done by some mechanic unless i look around for prices. If its something minor i can do it myself. Please give me some feedback about what the problem could be. Thanks in advance.

Oh and btw my car's a 94 LS400 that ive had for about 3 yrs now. Here's a picture next to the 7 series. (sorry for the picture blurriness.. i took it from my phone and the lens needs to be cleaned. If you want to see other pics then jus go to www.members.cardomain.com/lexusracin786) Oh and in case u guys are wondering which car i prefer driving... dont worry... nothing can compare with a Lexus V8 wellllll maybe a ford lol jk

Thumbs up cd player acting up

Its true LexusSr. I have a 2001 LS430 and had a problem with my c.d player also. They sent it to the maker because they dont have those specialist at the dealer for those type of repairs. Also if you sent it to a none Lexus mechanic they probably are being truthful in not knowing the problem. Call other dealerships aroud the U.S and get connected with there service department and ask about problem to be sure you get all info needed before spending $200-$400 on repairs. I was under warranty when i had my problem GOOD LUCK. And be quick but dont hurry.

OMG! I have this same problem on my 93 LS. Raido works like a champ but CD player you can hardly hear at full blast. I posted this same question awhile back with little or no response. I had one guy tell me I could replace the some chip on a board in the CD player and it would cost about $100. But he never came through. Haven't researched it since then, found out a new one cost about $500 if you can find.

Also been looking on eBay for about 5 months now and haven't even seen 1 posted. If you ever figure out what the problem is let me know because we have the same issue!!!

And for those who's CD player works just fine don't take them for granted because is SUX without my CD player
