Installing A System In Is300
Does anyone know of a walk-through/tutorial or perhaps want to spend some time explaining the procedure how to install an aftermarket deck in an is300? I am fairly knowledge with car audio, I installed everything in my old Explorer, but I’m not familiar with the Lexus setup.
I know firstly need a mounting kit, which I found online via Scosche.

I have seen some really cool mounting kits that mount the deck in the center of the plastic without the pocket. If you know where to purchase such a kit, please provide links.
Now, in my explorer, I had to get a harness to ‘over-ride’ the factory amp to allow my deck to power the speakers. Is this is same case for the is300? I know I also need a harness for power/remote/etc for the deck itself. What size are the speakers in the front and rear?
Lastly, what’s everyone’s experience with rattling in the truck with subs? Does the is300 fair well without dyno-mating the truck, or does it sound like one of those Honda’s I hear rattling by. I plan on putting my Infinity Kappa Perfect 12” that was in my Explorer in the lex but SUV's dont have trunks, so this is a new thing for me.
Thanks for any information people can provide. I appreciate it greatly.

I found this, seems to take care of the factory amp issue. Please comment if you have experience with this.

I dunno about that wireing harness. When I did mine, I was told that there was no harness on the market for the IS. And that was only in Nov. I would check with some stereo shops first and see if they have one.
I had to tap into the factory wiring to do my cd player. Which was a pain, and you will need a volt meter to do so cause the wires aren't your typical colors for constant and ground etc. I had an external amp too, I don't know if you need one for your cd player, but what I had to do was totally re-wire my speakers to the new amp and cd player.
