PS2 into CVA-1000
I have a CVA-1000 in my car right now and have been planning on putting a PS2 in as well. I know I shoulda done some more research before hand, because now I realize its not gonna work as easily as I thought. There's only a Nav input, no video. My installer said to bring the PS2 signal in he could hack into my data cables (wanna keep away from this) or another method, which for the life of me I can't remember right now. To make this one work however he said it would have to be on an FM signal. I was just curious if there were any mods you guys knew that could make a PS2 able to connect to a CVA-1000 safely and preferably through the Nav input. Thanks for any help you can give.

Alpine does make a KCE-103V for audio/video input to the CVA-1003. I'm not sure it would work with the CVA-1000. Best to call Alpine and ask them if it would work. If not, then two other options are:
(1) If the CVA-1000 navigation input connector has 12 or 13 pins with one corner rounded you might be able to use a ALPINE KCE-021n adapter that has a composite video plug and mono audio. The only reason this plug wouldn't work is if the CVA-1000 didn't supply a composite video input or audio on the same pin the navigation system outputs composite video and audio.
(2) Using a Audio Authority 9A62 component video to RGB converter and Sony high-definition PS2 cable. This would still require you make a custom VGA plug (DB-15) to male Alpine navigation input cable. This would yield the best video quality becasue it would be component video to RGB input.

I just read on www.carstereo.com that others have input video to the CVA-1000 thru the navigation port. So, I think the KCE-021n would work provided the plug fits a square female plug with one corner rounded.
Thanks you very much. I'll remember some of this info and go talk to the guy. I may call Alpine up and ask them but the KCE-021in sounds like a good rememedy. I'll look for pics of both of the backs and compare. Thanks again.
