hey,
i'm a gadget freak.....i did a search and the closest i could find was VideoNavi's 007 car, with a keypad to unlock some sort of elaborate weapons firing system on his LS430 (for those who think i'm kidding, do a search for 007 LS430)
anyone have experience putting a keypad security system to the ignition on a '00 GS4?? here's the one i found, and there are identical ones on ebay and such
I'm a gadget freak also. There was something like this on the movie
"The Transporter"with the BMW 740. He used the keypad for starting the engine.
I wanted to do this also, but was wondering how do you turn OFF the engine
since you're not using the keys to turn on the engine? This is pretty much keyless
starting, but how do you turn it OFF? Guess not too many people are adventurous
on this issue?
That's me with the electronic 10 key in the left side spare change drawer. This prevents the carwash guys from shooting off my rockets or deploying a smoke screen . Using standard switches I'd probably be found liable for my car taking out a couple of carwash guys.
I'd like it to deploy paintballs too, but until I can get them to splatter saying " I drive like a idiot! " it won't happen.

My clifford Matrix 3 and anything better than that would do remote start and remote start kill. It's not so much as a gadget freak. I am assuming a lot other high-tech alarms would do that too....
If you wire it this way (I have done it on a few cars) you still must put in the key to disable the steering wheel lock...only way to prevent that is to break off key in the ignition (just make sure you leave enough to get it back out with some pliers) or to break the steering wheel lock (which I always hated anyways). Have never done it in a Lexus, so not sure how easy disabling the lock is. About turning the car back off, the keypad should be able to do that too...the first one in this post would be the better option, probably already has a command for it (such as pushing the star or pound key...or both at once) and if it doesn't, you can use relays to make it do it, or a seperate switch to cut the power to relays. The best place for the keypad I would say is under the emergency brake in my opinion, or up on the dash or console. Change drawer is good in VideoNavi's car.
