Trouble with amp install
I recently put a sub and amp in my 2013 gs (non ML stereo). When I was done and connected the battery the fuse on the wire blew. I double checked everything and found a couple possible causes but want to make sure I got everything right before wasting any more fuses.
I used a kicker kisloc loc that has wires for power and a ground they say may be needed. I didn't install the ground at first but have it run now. I counted from the back of the harness instead of the front when tapping the speaker wires but don't think that would have caused the problem. I tapped the small white wire on the other harness and have since found it is only 5v so I'm thinking maybe I should find a 12v source but again I don't suspect that caused the fuse to blow. Lastly I did the install with my keys in my pocket and suspect that was keeping the car awake.
I've done several installs but this is my first time using an loc or tapping factory wiring. My suspicion is the problem was either the loc ground or the car waking up when I connected the battery.
