HVAC stuck on max heat after installing viper remote start.
I got a viper remote start installed on my 2015 Lexus GS350 two weeks ago. When I picked the car up I noticed the climate control system would only blow on maximum heat. I could control the flow but the heat was max regardless of the temperature setting.
I took the car back to the installer and they found a previous TSB regarding servo reset in GS350s so they determined this was the problem. I took to car to a Lexus dealership who said that all 8 servos had failed and need to replaced. The TSB expired even before I bought the car so I was quoted five thousand dollars for the job. The technicians at the Lexus dealership also didn’t think that the issue was related to the remote start.
At this point I don’t have 5K to pour into this car. I have a pretty high mileage GS and that bill would probably be more than half the value of the car. Is there any way installing the remote start could have caused the car to throw a bunch of codes that make it look like all the servos are failed at once? It just doesn’t make sense to me that every single servo on board would fail at the same time. Especially since it was working perfectly before the installation and the problem started immediately after. Could there have been some improper wiring that affected the climate control?
I think I’m gonna have the shop uninstall the viper system before even thinking about spending 5K to replace all 8 servos. It’s just too much of a coincidence.
