Trading in old car for LC 500
Since a bunch of people asked how to get an LC 500 for less than MSRP, I wanted to share how I did it. The key with my dealership was having a trade in. They were not budging off MSRP, but they payed OVER the KBB price for my trade in. It's something to consider, especially because you don't pay sales tax on a trade in, as you would if it was a private sale. In short the trade in gives you negotiating leverage, especially if the car has a clean title and is less than 5-years old.

Your dealer paid more than KBB price? Nice!
My two cents:
1. communicating with 3 or 4 dealers.
2. Do not negotiate with internet salesmen. Usually they got no power to lower the price, at least for LC. Hence, they will tell you there is no discount. Find a master salesman or a manager to email/call (only for LC).
3. Only negotiate at the end of the month/quarter. I got 3K off. I should have tried 5K lol
4. Be patient. If they don't negotiate, no big deal. Try another dealer. If you can wait till X'mas, even better
P.S. I didn't trade in. I sold my car privately. Dealers are not as nice here.

2013 Ford Fusion Energi with 35,000 miles. Hybrid plugins are in crazy demand here. I saw the car back on the road just over a week later. The dealership probably made a lot of money on it because it also had carpool stickers. Before that I had a 2014 Challenger Blacktop, which I traded in for the Fusion for a net profit (got cash back). At the time I needed a commuter car that gave me carpool lane access. That all changed recently, hence why I wanted a fun car again.
Being honest, I think they gave me over KBB because I kept the car in like-new condition. Just simple things like regular maintenance, monthly hand car washes, vacuuming it out etc. You'd be surprised how many people neglect their cars.
Oh, and make sure the car has a clean title. The dealer actually told me that because I had the pink slip, it saved them a lot of paperwork, hence why they were eager to take it.
