Default Jump In Revs

I recently purchased a CPO 2022 coupe with only 1500 miles. Getting familiar with the transmission and its various modes. Coming from a Vantage GT manual. Heres my question.
Getting ready to enter high way at slight incline. Car stopped in front of me rather than merging into traffic. I was in normal mode , when I accelerated rev's jumped to 5000 rpms. Has anyone encountered this in normal mode? My theory is that transmission adapted too incline. Just seems weird. Any insight appreciated.

Sounds like it downshifted.

it's dependent on how aggressively your foot trampled the pedal, and the incline and other factors. most people would say that's a good thing.
