New Member Question Re: Warranty
The entire idea behind insurance is to protect you from unexpected losses that you cannot afford to deal with. That is how it all started thousands of of years ago. And in the more modern form, about 400 years ago to protect ships at sea. And houses from fire after the "Great Fire of London".
Now, folks want warranties on a $200 desk lamp. You don't need a warranty for something you can handle out of pocket.
If folks can afford a $100K car, surely, they have the money for an unexpected repair, here and there. We are not driving Mercedes after all.
If I buy a $2K fridge and it breaks down, I just buy a new. If someone buys a $2K fridge on credit, or they have limited savings, they probably need the warranty.
