yikes... shocked the dealer would not really try to stop you driving the car in that condition! did they ask you to take it away?

hard to imagine they ordered the wrong one but why not leave it there for them to get the right one installed?
They said for driving only the tires were the problem, and said nothing about the tie rod, but my German is far from fluent so I could be incorrect. It was something like a six week lead time on the part, and they didn't want me to leave the car if I remember correctly. I was also thinking I would get the tires done while waiting for the part, but after moving it I decided I needed to get it towed back and the tie rod fixed before anything else.

I think they removed the tie rod and replaced it incorrectly, I have the photos above so when I'm back I'll look at what happened. Maybe I can adjust it back.

you're in germany? can't fathom charging that much for oil, but i don't know the laws there, such as fees they have to pay for disposing of the old oil, etc.
It's just for the oil, no charge to dispose of the used stuff. Just crazy prices

i can understand! they may not have known the tie rod was bent when you bought it from them, but they can't know what's happened to the car since (not saying anything happened while you've owned it) and they really aren't under any obligation to replace it, but it certainly would be nice. regardless, if it's $500 to get it fixed, i say just do it and move on. however, this 'cluster' of a failed repair and getting the wrong part though would really irritate me, and i'd demand to know how they're going to rectify the situation, with a letter from a lawyer to the general manager maybe to get their attention.
Yeah I think you're completely correct, the only evidence I have is that it has driven perfectly since purchase/I've not had any damage that explains the tie rod/there's not evidence of damage elsewhere/and the only garage that has worked on it is them, which isn't enough to conclusively say they sold it that way, just likely in my eyes as it is scary and unsafe now. Pretty much he said she said.

The rest just leads me to think they care about charging as much as possible instead of keeping customers happy and returning. A lawyer might be a good idea but would probably cost just as much as the repair

That's hilarious, $81.64?!

Lexus Munich want ~$250 for the part

And that's not a bad idea re. the letterhead...

yeah just order it and have it shipped to you! if they won't, have it sent to me and i'll send it to you.
then either install it yourself, get another shop to do it, or walk into the dealer and say "this what you can't get?"

Any competent independent shop can do tie-rod replacements and alignments, not difficult at all. Just buy the part from an on-line Lexus dealer, give them your VIN so they can verify the part fitment to your car.

I work on all of my own vehicles as a hobby (Lexus/Infiniti/MB/Maserati) and avoid all "Stealerships".

It's a great way to be, and I agree! I need a garage though... So, soon, hopefully.

The dealership sold the vehicle with a five year warranty which seemed good at the time and sadly is more of a trap, due to required servicing etc. Pretty sad to see it from full Lexus dealerships, it's definitely hit and miss but it seems like the US has many better ones (and some far worse). I'll shop around and probably end up doing it myself, but not sure as I don't have the time for at least a couple months.

I just took my lc in for its initial oil change and the service tech drove the literal crap out of my car (he hit 150km/h and then slammed on the brakes trigger abs according to my dash cam). I’m not surprised but a bit disappointed that they would treat other peoples property like this. Especially when I brought the car in at 1800km and paid out of pocket to “protect” the engine by changing out the break in oil.

just goes to show you, dealerships are often hit and miss. I’ve been with my dealer for all my cars below and still you get this random tech who decides to test run your car for fun.

^^^^There's many many stories like yours in the iSF forum. True turds of the earth When I bring any vehicle to a dealer I wait for the work to be completed and if the car has to go out on the road, I go with it. The last time this happened was a couple of years ago when I had my windshield replaced. The glass company replaced the windshield with OEM glass in the dealer's parking lot and then the LC when into the shop to have the electronics calibrated. When finished the tech wanted to road test to be sure the electronics were working properly. I drove, the tech told me what to do and all was working correctly.

Your tech needs too be reported
