assume it's a cell coverage problem now and then? obviously if there's no cell signal, the wifi isn't going to work.

Nope. It randomly happens in strong signal areas. And even if it were a signal issue, the system should return automatically when it senses a signal. It doesn’t. It requires a manual reboot.

This just in from the RX message board: "I heard back from Lexus and the bug where you set the WiFI HotSpot Setting to ON and a software glitch occasionally resets it to OFF when the car is restarted hasn't been fixed and it doesn't sound like they plan to do anything about it. The customer service representative told me "NO FIX NO UPDATE" so I take that to mean nothing has happened and nothing is planned.so I'm left with having to "wind my way" to the WiFI Settings menu and checking to see if the WiFi Hotspot is ON every time I start the car if I want to make sure that it's on since you can't change the setting once the car is moving. So much for the vaunted Lexus quality. Going to curse Lexus every time I do this #FirstandLastLexus"

An update (sort of): This clearly is a known issue at Lexus, even if the company apparently intends to ignore it regarding the LC, RX and possibly other models.

I happened to be scanning the Club Lexus message board for the new NX and saw this on a scary-long list of software fixes sent over the air to 2022 NX owners:
  • Wi-Fi connection history is intermittently not retained.
