Default Aftermarket audio system

Anyone ever install an aftermarket system and use the factory radio? The stock system is good but I want more volume and bass. Just looking for some ideas on what some people are using, if I decide to go with a change.

Is the sound stage mainly set up for front passengers? I moved the fader to the back to check and you can't hear anything. I have the convertible.

seems to be commonly assessed that moving the fade back is useless.
