Fold mirrors when locking?
i'm finally 'programmed' now to hit 'auto' after backing out of my garage to extend the mirrors out, and then 'fold' when driving into the garage. thanks to mcomer and AirForce8 for getting me on the right path.
by using it this way when i park somewhere else i know the mirrors are going to fold when i lock the car.
on a related note, i'm finally 'programmed' to the do the gentle push about 1/2" on the door handle and WAIT the 1/2 second or so before they retract and the car locks.
on both these items the manual was worthless.

i deal with a lot of complex tech challenges and quirks for a living, i want things i buy like a car to just work intuitively. But the quirky things like the door handles and mirror buttons are certainly not a big deal.

i had 3 months waiting for the magicians at motomachi to finish my ride, which was built to order, so i went online and downloaded a pdf of the manual and enjoyed
familiarizing myself with this new amazement. funny, when i finally got the little gem, i had to call the dealer and ask, "hey where's the manual"
as i didnt realize it was stuffed in the glovebox... ! like when i got my 1000cc sportster back in 74, sometimes you just have to climb on and let it rip
to figure it out ... you will

What is motomachi and what were they finishing?
it's funny what each of us figure out and don't figure out... i always assume a manual will be in the glovebox.
and i always take it out and put it in a closet right after as i'd rather read it on my ipad.

The mirror-fold trigger can be set through Lexus Personalized Settings to fold on pressing the start button, so they fold at engine shutoff and unfold at the power-on press.
Both my selling dealer, Lexus of Arlington in Chicago, and my home dealer had absolutely no idea that LPS even exists. The service advisor AND the Lexus Technology Specialist had to be coached and cajoled into looking up what I was trying to tell them about; I didn't have time to nurse them at the Chicago dealer so I had to wait for the 1000 mile service at home to get the list of settings configured. Pathetic experience buying a $100k halo car...
So set auto-fold permanently in LPS as you see fit, hopefully when you buy the car or at the 1000 mile service. It's free to do then, otherwise you'll be forced to pay for a service visit just for that. Naturally it's a bad idea to visit a Lexus dealer for service after the initial 1000 mile infancy checkup, as they'll eventually scratch your car in their free wash and put in only conventional oil, so give up the free 5k service and find a good shop for whatever you can't do yourself. Buying a $36 gallon of Mobil1 at Advance Auto will get you the filter for free, by the way....

If you lock car by depressing the exterior door handles, then the mirrors will fold. However, I don't think it's a good look for the LC because they look a little awkward.
So in public I fold, to protect car from damage. But when in my garage, I lock doors using the interior door lock button to leave mirrors extended. This option works for me.

When you lock the car with methods that require the fob to be present:
a) Touching the outside door handle
b) Pressing the lock button on the fob
You will be locking the car and setting the alarm and notifying the phone App that it is locked and folding the mirrors.
When you lock the car with methods that do Not required the fob to be present (although is may be present)
c) Pressing the inside door lock button
d) Manually flipping the mechanical door lock lever
You will be locking the car, method d) may be leaving other doors unlocks BTW
You have not set the alarm and have not notified the App that it is locked and not folded the mirrors
Note: when you try to Remote Start the car using the phone Lexus App it will show the doors unlocked and not RS.
It is possible to use the App to first lock the doors and then RS but recall that each App communication takes > 10 seconds
and you must permit the door lock command to cycle completely and trill back to your phone that it is locked...

This was really good information. Glad to be a part of this community! After a service, my mirrors did not fold automatically. I hit the auto button and the mirrors folded and unfolded as before. But I did not know how this systems really worked. Thanks for sharing!
Coming to Lexus (Rx45h)after years in a Cadillac I was surprised to see the problems getting the doors locked, mirrors folded. Even thought Cadillac was once a leader in technology, it now plays 'catch-up' with other brands. That said, our last Cadillac(SX5) would lock automatically, and mirrors would fold without attention.
Every company seems to doit "Own thing". Too bad Lexus does not check what other Co.s are doing to make life easier for owners. I now use the manual fold switch, 'Auto' unfold for my wife's RX. Guess that will be required when I finally get an LC.

I've got a 2car attached and a 2car detached about 100 feet from the house. I never lock doors on cars in the attached garage but always in the detached. If your keyfob is in close proximity to your locked car, then it attempts to communicate with your car. This is a drain on both keyfob battery and car battery. My wife parks her cars in the attached. The cars I primarily drive are in the detached. Because of the distance from house, I lock doors just as a safety precaution by habit.
