Hey, Guys! Michael here from the front-page editorial team. I'm new to the Club Lexus team, but have a good amount of experience with the tires you're discussing and have the new LC500 Convertible in for review right now, which is running a set of (tired) Michelin Pilot Super Sports...

My personal advice is to NOT by the P Zeroes. I owned them on my Boss 302 Mustang and they're sketchy in the rain and really anything below 65-degrees.

I'm not sure what to recommend re: run-flats, but if you can take the risk, the non ZP Michelin Pilot Sport 4S is an extraordinary street tire. Grip in the wet and dry. Better in cool temps, etc. I have those on my Mustang now, and also drove them on the 760hp GT500 in the canyons above Los Angeles.

^^^^Yes, I agree, but as I posted above the LC is, IMO, under-wheeled and under-tired, so upsizing or switching to non RFTs with the stock tire sizes on stock wheels is pretty much a No-Go The stock front size of 245/40/21 is not available in the PS4S, however 255/40/21 is and can be squeezed on to the stock 8½" wheel. The stock rear 275/35/21 size is available in the PS4S, but will be ½' less in OD than the 255/40. The LC is designed for the front and back wheel/tire combo to be the same in OD. The largest cross section tire that can fit a 9½" wheel is 285/35/21 as I posted above and is not available in the PS4S.

As you can see by my above post I am running PS4S upsized tires on wider after market wheels.

why do you think its necessary to upsize the wheel and tire, and doesnt it affect the warranty, as a modification ?
and - arent you increasing the torque on the wheel by upsizing, and tweaking its handling a bit ?
i'm currently running the bridgestone rft's that came on my 2019 vehicle, but at 27K miles i'm getting ready for replacement,
and will probably go with the oem....unless i'm convinced otherwise.

^^^^It's not necessary al all. But, for me, it was. I have posted many times that IMHO, the LC is both under-wheeled and under-tired. I'm a handling guy, and tend to drive aggressively. Again, IMO, since I put on the new upsized wheels and tires my handling has improved immensely for my type of driving. Note - I drive in Custom Mode - Custom for me is engine set to normal, Suspension set to Sport.

you must drive quite aggressively to feel the need for more footprint, but as long as it doesnt affect the warranty
it couldnt hurt. with the torsen lsd, i've never gotten mine to bust loose or even slide, but i'm not real led footed

There are comments in this Thread about how many miles some brands last.Like many enthusiasts, I don't drive all my cars many miles per year. So the superb mileage rating on Michelins is irrelevant. Six years is the age limit mentioned extensively. In my case that may be less than 20,000 miles in 6 years So having an 80,000 mile rating is an irrelevant criteria..Most tires have decent dry grip. The differences really show with wet grip and road noise/comfort. Tire Rack Spider Charts quickly sort through the confusion.

good job, lou ! couple questions: what will you do if you get a flat and have no spare ?
my first encounter with run flats was the other day when my alarm went off...26 psi !
had a bugle head sheet rock screw in there, and the repair person said even with the hole
the pressure held and got me to the shop ! so i feel fairly secure with runflats
but wouldnt without a spare !

thanks for the alternative, lou i checked it out however my bud who cares for my baby asked, "plz, stay away from that stuff"; i could hardly refuse.
it only makes sense that in order for a runflat to work, it has to have more rubber (duh!) and i imagine that would make a qualitative difference in handling,
as you suggest. your LC with wider tires must feel glued to the road !

^^^^Yes, I realize if I ever had to use the "stuff" I would immediately have to replace the tire. But, that's a trade-off I'm willing to take.

Also, don't forget that my wider wheels also fit into the handling equation.

Default Bridgestone Turanza T005 RFT directional tire?

After all these years, I have never looked closely at the OE tires on the LC. I notice that it has a D or a P with an arrow on it (see pic). I couldn't find any info on tire retailer websites (i.e. tirerack ect) whether these OE tires are directional tires. If they were, the dealer has it backward on my rear set


is that meant "directional tyre"?
