Limited slip differential, 21-inch wheels?
My closest dealer finally has an LC ‘vert that is configured very attractively to me. And I am tempted. But I have two humbling questions.
I‘m an old guy and I don’t track, though I sometimes drive spiritedly. I’ve poked around and can’t find a clear answer on this:
1. What would be the attractions and disadvantages to me of the LSD? Basically, it’s a high-tech form of as-needed all-wheel drive?
2. From a comfort and ride perspective, should I be wary of the larger wheels and thinner tires?

My Opinion here -
1. The Torsen LSD on the LC is a very desirable option. When I bought my LC, it was a deal breaker. It has nothing to do with all wheel drive. The Limited Slip differential transfers power to a wheel with solid footing. A conventional or open differential sends power to the wheel with the least resistance.

2. IMHO, the 21" wheels will not degrade comfort much over the 20s. However the RFT tires do have a rougher ride than standard tires. If you are unhappy with the 21s the dealer may, upon request, swap them out for the 20s. The 21" option is a desirable option. My LC came with 20s and I swapped them out for after-market 21s with non RFT tires. And just to add the tires on the 21" wheel are a bit more performance oriented than the tires on the 20" wheels.

Thank you, sir. That makes it easy for me - I want both.
I’ve been around here awhile, mostly lurking for educational purposes. I have a year-old BMW M850ix convertible, which is just fine, but I get bored easily.

+1 for @flowrider and his thoughts. My IS F had a Torsen LSD, my RC F had a TVD (torque vectoring differential), and my LC has a Torsen LSD. I don't think I would get a car without one.
IMHO, the OEM 21-inch wheels are some of the best looking wheels Lexus has ever designed. When my car was at stock ride height, the OEM 21's rode great; definitely an ample amount of sidewall for comfort. I've since upgraded to RSR springs and 22-inch wheels, so the ride is a bit rougher over bumps, but I prefer the look.
I'm a spiritual old guy of 41 that doesn't care about 0-60, quarter mile times, or blasting a car on the freeway, so I hear you. People are generally slowing down to check out the car anyways
