I don't know if that's any related, but I regularly feel heat coming from the "middle", from my right side when sitting in the driver's seat. I don't even have to drive it hard, a trip on the motorway in comfort mode will heat it up considerably.

My understanding is the fuel pump recall was only for early 2018 LC's.

Definitely sounds like your fuel pump. They are located under the rear seats. Take it in.

I had a serious engine problem with my LC 500 recently.
The car stopped reacting to the gas paddle while on the road, the engine had some hiccups, and then it stopped with an error message. After that the car wouldn't start. Upon attempting to start the engine, the crankshaft was spinning, but it wouldn't start. I managed to shoot a video of this (watch here). I also managed to shoot a video when the engine stopped working (watch here). After a couple of hours of rest, the engine somehow started and I was able to park the car in a safe spot.

At the garage they said it was a fuel pressure problem, and they replaced the fuel pump (actually I was eligible for a replacement due to a recall).

Since then the engine still feels unhealthy:
  • I think its startup is longer than it used to be.
  • In neutral, it produces a noticeable rattling noise in the background.
  • When accelerating on lower speeds, the once super clear engine note is now accompanied by a rhythmic deep overtone (a bit like as if it was a diesel engine).
There are no error codes, so the dealer wouldn't do anything.

I attempted to record the engine sound in neutral around 1500 and 2000 RPM. Do you also think it sounds off?

Any ideas? I suspect that it wasn't the fuel pump, I really want to get this fixed, before the car decides to stop on the motorway.

Same thing happened to my 2018 LC500. The recall is for the low pressure pump which is in the fuel tank under the rear seat - I wasn't aware there was a recall on the high pressure pump, but from the description it sounds like the low pressure pump. Since the recall replacement I haven't had any issues. You might want to look up your VIN number in the national recall database to make sure they didn't clear your recall by replacing one of the high-side pumps. You still need the low pressure pump replaced.

Sir, any update? Do the complete fuel pump (meaning both LP and HP) fix the problem permanently?

Any aftermath damage to the engine?

engine sounds ok all again?

Thanks.
