Default LC500 Interior Lighting

I am really happy with my LC500 but I am a little disappointed with the interior lighting.

When you walk up to the car, the interior lights come on at night before you unlock the car but they are so dim that you can hardly see them. Also, I have noticed that the door trim and footwell lights dim automatically when you put the car into Drive or Reverse. They are so dim that you cannot see that they on.They are much brighter when you first start the car.

Finally, some of the controls are not well lit at night. The heater and ventilation buttons are not lit, only the display above them and so they are very hard to see in the dark.

Does anyone else think this or is it just me? Having owned BMW and Mercedes in the past, their interior and ambient lighting is much more impressive. Given how radical the design of the LC500 is and the amazing exterior lights, I was expecting more from the interior lighting. I haven't owned a Lexus before and so I do not know how the LC500 compares to the rest of the range.

Go through the settings and I believe you can brighten the lights. If not in the system or steering wheel controls check to the left of the steering wheel and find the interior light brightness buttons.

Thanks for the advice. I have already turned the brightness up as far as it will go with the buttons to the right of the steering wheel, (RHD car in the UK!). This does make the lights in the door trims brighter but as soon as you drive away it goes dim again.

I have mixed feelings on this... The door trim and footwell lighting functions in an automatic way - that I think makes sense: brighter when in P; dim when in D or R. The overhead personal or map lights can be operated while the vehicle is moving, which I find sufficient. The issue I have with the lighting is I cannot swap out the LEDs for brighter or different units (like I've done in all my cars for the past 6 or so years), which would be nice when the vehicle is parked. The modules inside the door and trunk bezels do not accept standard plug-in LED bulbs. I prefer brighter 65K-color LEDs, like the ones I changed on my visors (https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.clu...c9d626386.jpeg). I checked with my Lexus parts manager to see if they had variations on these modules available, but of course the answer is "no". These LED modules are new territory for Lexus. Previous models all used incandescent bulbs (which could be changed to LED replacements). I suspect with time, Lexus (Toyota) will develop drop-in replacements for these modules in different colors and/or brightness. The lighting in the door trim is a completely different animal, and wouldn't easily support end-user modification. This would need to be re-engineered to be something like the Spectrum Lighting used in some Chevys like the Camaro. Spectrum Lighting has a full range of color selection and control. Spectrum is a bit gimmicky, but with some refinement, Lexus could make some customizable improvements to this strip-style lighting. So for now, the interior lighting is what it is, and that's not so bad.
