Default Hypermiling the LC

Christian from the HP recently went to see how fuel efficient he could make Lexus' priciest hybrid, and the results were pretty crazy. Read everything about his experiment here!

Yeah hypermiling is pretty crazy itself, and can make you a lot of enemies if you do it around any kind of traffic. There are HS250 owners getting 60 mpg and Prius owners pushing 100 mpg using hypermiling techniques, but those include making use of the different stages of warmup, etc. Getting 43 out of the LC500h isn't all that much higher than EPA.

I still don't understand the author's expectations for mpg on the LC500h - the car is a luxo barge that can do 0-60 in 5s, 150+ mph, and gets 32 mpg combined EPA. That's friggin impressive. For comparison, my HS250 combined EPA is just a bit higher at 35, but 0-60 is a leisurely 8.5s. Reminds me of a writer that reviewed the HS250 when it came out, and dinged it because it didn't get better mpg than a Prius. Duh.

Hypermilling will not make you any friends in traffic. That's for sure.
