They are not connected with Lexus USA, but will ship anywhere to the lower 48. They can't ship to another Lexus dealer in the US.
The problem with that is if you buy a Lexus out of Hawaii, Lexus USA will not honor the warranty because they consider Hawaii outside of the USA and the car isn't in the Lexus USA computer system. It's ridiculous but true. Your Service Advisor will need to jump through many hoops to push a warranty issue through, and some dealers haven't had any success when trying.
Same reason Louis Vuitton prices are lower in HI versus mainland--they are grouped with ASIA since it is technically closer to Asia.
Yes I understand the regional geography aspect but Hawaii is clearly a state. Their senators and congressional representatives participate and serve the United States not some Asian principality. I could even understand it somewhat if it were a territory like Puerto Rico , American Samoa or Guam. It isn’t, it’s a state. That is a distinct difference Lexus!
Wow! That’s bizarre. Hawaii is indeed the 50th state yet isn’t considered as part of the United States Lexus network. How did that happen?
I bought my car out of Hawaii and shipped to me in Florida. I wanted this exact Inspiration series and the only other one for sale was actually a few towns over from me but was about $30k more with more miles. I didn't even know about the warranty issue until I started shopping around for extended warranty quotes. The dealers kept telling me they couldn't give me a quote because my car wasn't in the USA system. I then searched online and read about people running into the warranty issue and how Servco Lexus in Hawaii is under the Asian umbrella. Luckily my Service Advisor is really cool, and he spoke to upper management about helping me out if any warranty issues should arise. They contacted corporate and after a few months got me in the USA system somehow. I actually had the brake light bar on the roof replaced under warranty last month with no issues.
I am in Florida, how much was the shipping charge?
I forget the exact #, but to have it shipped enclosed from Hawaii to Florida was around $2k. I was involved in the shipping industry at the time though, so I got a better price than most.
@Enzo954
To save $30K and have less mileage on the specific car you really wanted I would have done the exact same thing. $30K is not chump change.
My car had 1500 miles, fully PPF'd, Windows were tinted and basically brand new. The other car that was $30k more had about 7500 miles on it with no PPF and window tint. That alone is worth about $5k for the PPF and tints. It was a no brainer IMO.
