You skipped over my statement. Does the ‘24 LOOK better than the ‘23? That’s the claim. By any measure, the answer is no. I still prefer it for all of the other reasons that you mentioned but, while it may look better than a Tesla Model 3, it’s disingenuous to say the interior looks as nice as the old one.

Quote: I agree that the infotainment on a ‘24 is worth the decreased aesthetics, even though some disagree, so my point is that the Lexus of ten years ago wouldn’t have had you choose. If it didn’t BOTH look good and work, it didn’t go in the car. I wouldn’t have expected the investment of an entirely new dash and center stack on an outgoing car, but they could’ve put in a bit more effort to get something between what they have now and the perfectly smooth pre-‘24.
Actually, all the Lexus received this tombstoned screen before they were fully redesigned. Current ES, RC, IS, UX, LS, and LC all still have this tombstone screen. Only the all new re-designed RX, NX, GX, and somewhat LX received a full dash redesigned with an integrated screen.
I guess when you have a 2024 and look at it closely, it's not that easy to just integrated with the current dash. If they make the screen small enough to go under the dash, even if it's out at the edge, it's still too far to touch for most people. And if they change the dash completely to "cover" the screen where it's currently is on the 2024, they have to change out both side panels on the instrument cluster and now the line don't match up with the door. They also have to go through all new testing for the airbags and certified the parts and all that. It's not that simple!
The dash looks fine and it looks good with a black dash. It's only when you have the white/tan interior that the black screen stick out like a sore thumb. I guess Lexus shouldn't have market the new info screen with the white/blue interior.

Black interior with black dash. Blends in well.

White interior with blue dash. Screen sticks out like a sore thumb. I think the blue panel to the side of the screen is what makes it so out of place. If this area to the side vent is black, it would look more pleasing.

2021 Inspiration. White interior with blue dash. Screen embedded in the dash. But you notice the side panel from the screen is black. This is what makes it look nice.

Would have flat out been impossible to mount a touchscreen in exactly the same location as the older display panels. Not just because the size is larger so it won't fit (small screens are extremely outdated) but also because it would be impossible to reach and touch it! I have no issue whatsoever with the location, design and look of the touchscreen and I do not feel it looks out of place or worse than previous models. Have you see what screens look like in other luxury cars like BMW, Audi, Mercedes, etc.? They are all "slapped" on to the front of the dash these days and, as was pointed out, stick up way over the dash unlike ours (thank you Lexus). It looks at least as good and likely better than most. If you want to compare previous models and say the older version looks more integrated then OK, but let's also point out it is smaller, farther away, and uses an antiquated touchpad system to control which virtually every car manufacturer has walked away from. Personally, I would never want another track pad system in a car especially with a smaller screen. Perhaps the politically correct way to describe it would be to say they are both "different", each with their pros and cons? Is it "better", "better looking", etc.? Everyone has their own preferences (and why are we owners debating over it when we all own one of the best cars on the planet).

Oh yea, I want an All-Weather Trunk Mat please!

Quote: Can you provide some details on where and how it didn't fit? If it's minor stuff, I might chance it as I'd prefer a rubber tray in there.
The Part number in the Lexus parts system that showed it would fit in a 2024 convertible was for a coupe IMO as it was too long and did not have the cut outs. The Parts counter called Lexus and they said the part number in the system was wrong and that they did not have a part for the 2024. I am thinking about buying the one listed for the 2023 convertible.

May be this would not be a debatable item if they kept the classic watch and the black L like patterns from '23/prior MY dash... that would have made people to overlook the black panels on the new touchscreen.

The 23 will fit, except the area that has the goo pump.. You will have to cut slits in the rubber to pass the straps through or relocate the pump.
