Default Trunk Lid material?

Hi all. Does anybody know what material a trunk lid is made of? Looks like a fiberglass, but just want to be sure.
Thanks

I don’t know what it’s made of but try not to f@ck it up cuz for some reason it costs over $10K for the Coupe and over $11K for the Convertible, LOL

The interior lining of the rear deck lid is raw marbleized carbon fiber - hence part of the $10k replacement cost

I bought a Benchmade mini Adamas to match

its not fibre glass, jesus you guys make it sound like its some ghetto ali express part

"The vehicle will also demand extra skill from not only structural repairers but cosmetic and paintless dent repairers as well; its exterior is essentially either aluminum or carbon fiber-reinforced plastic (the formal term for “carbon fiber”).

Aluminum is used for the hood, front fenders and door skins, with the inner panels of the doors and trunk made from CRFP sheet-molding compound,” Lexus wrote. “Only the rear fenders are steel.”

So why the heck does the darn thing weigh like if all of those panels were made of 1950s steel??? And talking about weight, the only weight reported for the coupe is 4,340 lbs. But is that the 'base' model without the heavy RWS and VGRS? I'd like to know the weight of a touring, with maybe just the Torsen (which are heavier than an open differential). Thank you.

all modern day cars are extremely heavy. The amount of electronics, sensors, sound deadening all adds a ton of weight. I wish this was the early 90's and japanese cars were only 2200lbs on average. But those days are long gone.

I guess the only exception being the Miata which still weighs marginally heavier than previous gen but thats a car thats 1/2 the size of the LC and lacks the refinement

The main reason for the car's hefty weight is the chassis. Keep in mind that the GA-L platform is also shared with the LS500. Even though they initially hoped for a lower mass, with some added benefits, it ended up being quite heavy. Some benefits of the chassis include, more rigidity, better weight distribution and lower center of gravity.

I managed to have a short conversation with Cooper Ericksen several years ago, who used to be one of the execs at Lexus - and I was asking him if we would be seeing an LC-F in the future. He had told me that it would be highly unlikely, because even with the added power and performance oriented components, the chassis still remains quite heavy - which would make it very hard to make a competitive high performance GT coupe.
