I bought redout vinyl film for my tails but I guess I am vinyl retarded since I always screw up vinyl, so I decided to try spraying them red. I have done this on 3 previous cars before with Krylon Stained glass red paint ( here is my GS400 redout project: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...visited-3.html) but Michael's doesn't carry them anymore so I bought some VHT Nightshades Red.
Pretty simple. I put on 3 good coats and decided not to clear coat them to see how they hold up to time. Anyhow here are the pics.

Looks good. I like the vinyl personally. We did my friends Corolla tail lights with VHT and it ended up fading and looking matte finish after a while.
About how long did they last?
I was thinking they probably will fade over time and sun exposure. Thats why I didnt clear them yet. I figure it will be much easier to remove without a clearcoat.
My last one (a 05 Scion xA) lasted a couple of years with a good clearcoat-Krylon UV clearcoat-and the Krylon Red Stained Glass paint. I thought the VHT would last longer. If/when they do fade I will probably shoot them again and try the clearcoat. Or I may just get the 2011-2013 outer tails.
All depends on ur climate I guess but here on Guam it didnt stand a chance. Maybe 5-6 months. Id say clearing it over is the only way to keep that fresh look.

Gotcha. Thanks. I'll clear them after they fully set. Buen Probechu!
