I looked into it and a lot of shops around me wont install remote starts on push button cars. Its too much of a liability. Usually cars with keys, you cant get the shifter out of gear with out a key in the ignition slot. But on push button cars, the guy told me that with these smart keys, the car can still get in gear and be driven away even with out the smart key being near the car. There are a few places that would do it but its not recommended.

I think the other issue with people who did install them is that the car still required you to press the brake to start the car, but when you press the brake, the remote start trips and shuts the car off. So it became a pain in the ***.

Lexus just came out with a remote start for the new 2014 so I would wait and see if they make it available for all models.

Remote start works fine on my car without issues. If the installer does it wrong, the car needs to be restarted when you get in.

There are some threads that's a DIY on how to do it yourself.

It's not that the OEM key fob doesn't work -- it's you cannot unlock the car with the OEM key when the car is running. You'll need the OEM key to drive the car.

I have the Viper 5902. If you don't need those options, you might want get the one this guy got which has a smaller remote:

Here is another person showing how it works.

When you get into your car, press the "start engine" button 2 times then step on brake pedal

Aftermarket remote starts on cars with push button start rarely ever works properly. I would avoid it usless it came with that option from factory.

Are you sure that's related? You can try unplugging the remote start/alarm to see if that goes away.
